All was quiet, all was calm. Sun beams bounced off the nearby lake where a young deer was drinking. His soft auburn fur gleamed in the bright sunlight and eyes twinkled with a curious naivety. All of a sudden a flash of green light bubbled to the surface of the lake and drifted off into the depths of the forest. The deer cocked his head with intrigue and followed the light- filled with anticipation of what he may find.
The emerald light appeared to get brighter and brighter the deeper into the forest it went. He deer followed, almost transfixed on the mysterious orb. Eventually the light stopped; hovering above a murky purple lake, eerily identical to the lake the deer drank from earlier. As time passed, more and more orbs began to rise from the lake, circling above it, inviting the deer to explore.
A sweet aroma drifted out of the lake, catching the deer’s attention. He lowered his nose to investigate closer. The smell was euphoric, alluring the deer to get closer and closer until he immersed himself in the water. A sudden feeling of energy rushes through every vein of his body; he felt invincible – almost supernatural…
Every heartbeat sent the deer further and further beyond reality. Every sense in his body was working overdrive. The orb darted back into the water causing the deer to transfix his eyes following it down into the water. He stopped completely still for second, in shock at what he had just saw. What he saw staring back at him was unlike anything he had ever seen before.
The reflection staring back at him shook him to his core. Leaves sprouted from his strong oak-like antlers. But it was his eyes that took this to a new level. He now had not one, not two, but three shimmering emerald eyes. But his appearance no longer affected him; in fact, it empowered him. Confidence radiated from every inch of is body. His desire to explore was now stronger than ever, so he stepped back into the dark forest. With every step he took, the foliage sparkled and turned a vivid shade of purple. ‘What is this’ he thought to himself.
Before long what was once a quiet serene forest was now an enchanted mystical extra-terrestrial collection of biota. Vines now covered the landscape winding around every available space leaving a soft leafy floor. Birds flew at an incredible speed with extravagant iridescent feathers and beaks. Trees were changing in shape, size and colours, some becoming bright yellow, some bright blue. Some looked like diminished dwarfs with stunted stems and crooked branches, some were reminiscent of moving, breathing, talking, silver-coloured spaceships.
What a spectacle it was, vegetation talking amongst themselves, animals looking like transfixed cosmic creatures...
