On the 9th of May 2015, the silver light of the moon will transform the stunning grounds of St Hilda’s College into a majestic Venetian Carnival. As lantern lit punts glide along the River Cherwell, the Prosecco will flow into the early hours of the summer morning. For one evening, the lights and music of St Hilda’s will bring the dreaming spires of the Oxford skyline new life and wonder - or something along those lines.

St Hilda’s Ball will offer guests an authentic Italian gastronomic experience. Whether enjoying a three course Venetian banquet as a dining guest, or savouring the vibrant flavours of Italian street food, all of our guests will undoubtedly be fascinated and enthralled by the delights on offer.
Dining guests will be treated to a full three course meal offering the refined tastes of Venetian cooking. Set in St Hilda’s spacious and welcoming dining hall, diners will enjoy fine Italian wine to accompany their meal. Diners also have the opportunity to enjoy the authentic street food which will be on offer to all guests.
Standard tickets will offer ball-goers the chance to experience the diversity of Venetian street food throughout the evening. Our chichetti stalls, pizza van, alcoholic gelato bar, and dark chocolate fountain will offer both sweet and savoury delights.
The Ball will also offer a range of complimentary alcoholic drinks and soft drinks throughout the night - including a champagne reception and cocktail bar.
Expect the hustle and bustle of a traditional Venetian carnival, complete with fire breathers, stilt walkers and other surprise performers. The Ball will also offer less Venetian highlights including laser tag.
St Hilda's Ball is proud to host both nationally-acclaimed performers and a number of Oxford's student bands, including the ever-popular Dot's Funk Odyssey and one of the biggest new bands on the Oxford ball circuit - Millie is a Boy. Our headline act this year is I Am Beyonce - the UK's number one Beyonce tribute act.
Non-dining guests can look forward to a lavish Prossecco and canapé reception on the lawns overlooking Oxford's imposing skyline before moving along to the entertainment, drinks and street food the Carnival has to offer. As is tradition, both food and drinks are free and unlimited.
For the gourmand, the oenophile and for those with stories to tell, the dining ticket offers a chance to socialise over a decadent 3 course Venetian dinner with your friends before the Carnival begins. Weather permitting, our dining guests will be transported along the Cherwell in chauffeured punts to arrive at the Carnival in true Venetian style.
A limited number of alumni tickets will also be available in February. These include all the benefits of dining tickets and are exclusive to alumni of St Hilda's College, Oxford.
The dress code for St Hilda's Ball is Black Tie. Venetian Masks are recommended. Tickets to this year's Ball have now sold out.
St Hilda's Ball is a traditional social highlight of the academic year at Oxford, but also a valuable opportunity to promote your products and engage with potential recruits at the crucial time when graduate employment decisions are made.
